The Haemophilia and Thrombosis Consultants work as a team to provide adult and paediatric care for patients with inherited bleeding disorders across the Southern Haemophilia Network. This is done in specific clinics both at BNHH and across the network. The Southern Haemophilia Network (SHN) is a clinical network providing care for patients with haemophilia and other inherited bleeding disorders in Basingstoke, Portsmouth, Bournemouth, Poole, and Salisbury. The specialist commissioners fund it as a network and the North Hampshire Haemophilia CCC is the hub. The SHN team has a network director, deputy director, lead nurse, lead physiotherapist, and operational manager, providing comprehensive care close to the patient’s home where possible. Main Duties of the Job

We are looking for a full-time locum consultant with an interest in Haemophilia and Thrombosis. They would join our enthusiastic team to develop integrated Haematology services for the acute hospitals, community hospitals, and primary care in Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The role would provide specialist care of patients with inherited bleeding disorders across the Southern Haemophilia Network, as well as general non-malignant haematology laboratory and clinical care at HHFT. The post will be primarily based on the Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital site, but outreach clinics and travel to other hospitals within the Southern Haemophilia Network will be expected. Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities

• Provide specialist care as part of the MDT for patients with inherited bleeding disorders at Basingstoke and across the Southern Haemophilia Network, including outpatients, inpatient care, and providing telephone advice to patients and clinicians. • Provide advice for those with thrombosis to hospital clinicians, GP, and CNS team, and work on VTE prevention. • Provide clinical and laboratory haematology services covering inpatients, outpatients, day cases, and GP referrals together with the other consultants within the department. • Respond to clinical and laboratory enquiries. • Liaise with clinicians to ensure that important laboratory findings reach them promptly and provide advice regarding appropriate action. • Involve in the clinical management of patients in the hospital and community, providing evidence-based care in a multidisciplinary setting. • Involve in the education of Trust and Primary care staff, potentially participating in departmental staff appraisal after appropriate training. • Participate in an out-of-hours consultant on-call rota (1 in 5) for telephone advice across the Southern Haemophilia network for patients with bleeding disorders and complex thrombosis issues. • Actively participate in clinical research, recruitment of patients to clinical trials, and regular review of the clinical trials portfolio. • Participate in clinical audit, Quality Improvement, and other departmental and directorate clinical governance activities. • Provide educational and clinical supervision for junior medical trainees and Specialist trainees. • Undertake appropriate duties in cases of emergencies and unforeseen circumstances. Qualifications

Full GMC with License to practice Holder of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or within six months of award of CCT or equivalent by the date of interview MRCP and FRCPath Postgraduate qualification (MD or PhD) in haemostasis or thrombosis Clinical Experience and Knowledge

Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT in Haematology Ability to offer expert opinion on a range of clinical and laboratory haematological problems Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of haematology patients Specialist interest in Haemostasis and Thrombosis with at least 6 months senior experience in H&T Research & Teaching

Commitment to Quality Improvement and/or clinical audit – evidence of this Experience in devising and conducting audit, applying audit results Ability to advise on efficient and smooth running of clinical and laboratory service for patients Ability and willingness to work within Trust and NHS performance framework and targets Evidence of commitment to teaching and training Ability to teach clinical and laboratory skills GCP trained and evidence of active involvement with research Training in Evidence based practice Experience in Clinical Governance Experience and subsequent change in management Experience of supervising Foundation Trainees and CTs / STs Experience of supervising higher specialist trainees Our Commitment to You:
