All students that attend the school have a designated Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) which details their specific needs in terms of the care and support they will have access to. The pupils at the school can struggle to form strong, healthy relationships and can present high levels of anxiety and challenging behaviour. Summary: Specialist secondary school for students with a range of learning needs such as autism, Down's syndrome, speech and language challenges and social, emotional needs. The school also has a provision for deaf students. Classes range from 6-8 in size with a focus on implementing effective communication techniques. Therapy rooms and designated areas for specialist support from a range of therapists including SALTs, Occupational therapists, psychologists and counsellors. An Integrated Therapeutic Approach and extensive 1-1 support for every pupil. Specialist communication methods such as Makaton and PECS. Focus on preparation for GCSE subjects and building a curriculum that works for their individual needs.
