SMH Howard Matthews is seeking a Tax Senior/Manager to join the dynamic team of highly experienced accountants and tax professionals in the Harrogate office. The SMH Group is a multi-disciplined professional services company which includes Chartered Accountants, Tax Advisers, Financial Planners, and Legal professionals working across offices in Yorkshire and Derbyshire. With ambitions to further your tax career, your main focus in this role will be to direct the provision of mixed taxation services to a wide range of clients (with a personal tax bias), whilst also managing general tax compliance for a large portfolio of individuals, entrepreneurs, and their businesses. Responsibilities:

Lead tax advisory projects and work closely with the directors on tax planning matters including Capital Gains Tax, Inheritance Tax, and profit extraction. Co-ordinate and oversee tax compliance for a wide range of clients. Undertake technical tax reviews on personal, partnership, trust, and corporation tax computations. Review the work of team members. Manage the P11D process and review the forms prepared by junior members of staff. Prepare disclosures for HMRC. Build and maintain effective working relationships with clients. Provide general tax technical assistance to clients, directors, and colleagues across the group. About You:

Technically strong with a comprehensive knowledge of UK tax matters. Committed to a career in tax with experience gained from a similar role. Self-motivated and able to use own initiative. Comfortable dealing with clients and colleagues at all levels. Approachable with a willingness to assist and develop colleagues’ careers. Flexibility to work in other offices on an ad-hoc basis. Skills and Experience:

You will ideally be CTA qualified or have equivalent experience. Able to work effectively in a busy practice environment and ensure deadlines are met. Strong attention to detail. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent time management. Strong prioritisation and organisational skills. Experience of Iris Accountancy Suite is an advantage. What’s on Offer:
