Management Accountant - NI Housing Executive - Ballymena
NI Housing Executive is one of the largest housing bodies in the UK. As a Management Accountant, you will be responsible to the Finance Business Partner (Senior Accountant) and will lead a small team of staff in the provision of an efficient, effective, and professional management accounting service to a Directorate within the business.
About the role: Hourly Rate: £21.98 per hour Location: Ballymena Hours: 37 hrs/week, Monday to Friday (9:00am - 5:00pm) Duration: Temporary, ongoing Holidays: 38 days pro rata Please note closing date for applications is 10th December 2024. Key Responsibilities: Team Leadership: Manage a small team, setting objectives, monitoring performance, and fostering continuous improvement. Management Accounting: Deliver day-to-day management accounting and reporting for a division, supporting budget holders and senior Finance staff in budgeting, forecasting, and expenditure monitoring. Cost & Income Analysis: Evaluate and control costs, identify savings, and maximise income opportunities in collaboration with operational teams. Financial Advisory: Provide detailed financial analysis, ensuring value for money and efficiency in service delivery. Project Involvement: Contribute to strategic initiatives, operational decisions, and service delivery improvements. Shared Services Accounting: Ensure accurate recharges for support services in line with cost accounting principles. Reporting & Compliance: Prepare and present financial reports for Senior Management and committees. Support risk management, business continuity, and adherence to policies and procedures. Represent the Finance Division on working groups and committees, acting as a liaison for the Finance Business Partner. Prepare business cases, tenders, and quotations following procurement regulations. Deliver excellent internal and external customer service, maintaining strong stakeholder relationships. Undertake project work, provide team support, and ensure compliance with legal and corporate frameworks. Criteria:
Applicants must provide evidence by the closing date for application that they meet the following essential criteria: Possess a recognised professional accountancy qualification (CCAB or equivalent) for example ACA, ACCA, ACMA, CPFA. Have at least one years' post qualification experience in a senior financial role*. *For the purposes of shortlisting, a senior financial role is defined as a role with: a) Significant budgetary control responsibility, OR b) Responsibility for preparing and presenting budget / financial information to senior management, OR c) Responsibility for allocating / apportioning overhead costs to operational areas, agreeing service level agreements and reporting on the outcomes. Can demonstrate at least 2 years' experience in each of the following: a) Budgetary control including setting budgets, analysing expenditure, reporting on variances, forecasting, and liaison with budget holders. b) The use of an integrated financial management system and linked reporting tools (e.g. Business Objects, Crystal, Cognos, etc). Can demonstrate: (to be assessed at interview) • Excellent planning and organisational skills • Ability to work accurately under pressure of multiple deadlines • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills • Strong customer orientation Candidates may also be assessed against the relevant Senior Leader section of the NIHE Behavioural Framework.
