Job description Job responsibilities The Medical Division at Mid Yorkshire Hospitals provides Acute care across the range of medical specialities in a large modern purpose-built hospital in Wakefield, which includes a large Acute Assessment Unit, Acute Elderly Assessment Unit, Coronary Care and Acute (Respiratory) Care Unit. We also provide care for Acute Elderly Admissions and step-down care for patients in a less acute phase of their admission at Dewsbury & District Hospital. Successful applicants will support the Gastroenterology specialty team in the management of their in-patient & outpatient workload and will participate in the Trust-wide out-of-hours cover across both hospital sites. The Gastroenterology team operate several clinics, which look at a wide variety of digestive diseases and disorders including: Functional bowel disorders Liver conditions Bowel disease The Service Role From a clinical perspective, these posts will participate in the cross-site senior trainee rota. The senior trainee rota is compliant with the 2016 junior doctor contract averaging 48 hours per week. The illustrative rota pattern is attached to this job description. Duties will be based primarily on our Pinderfields Hospital site although all our medical staff are involved in delivering care to patients on all our sites. The main duties of the post will include: Provision of care with responsibility for the management of patients with acute and chronic conditions including complex cases. Referral of patients to other specialities as appropriate. Out-patient activities - clinics. Involvement in specialty and cross-specialty multi-disciplinary teams and meetings. Involvement in relevant administration duties. Teaching and supervision of junior medical staff and other clinicians as appropriate.
