Axon Moore are currently partnering a leading York based distributor as they search for a Head of Finance to join their organisation.

The role of Head of Finance is fundamental to the future success of the organisation and represents a real opportunity for a candidate to join an established, people led environment with excellent growth and career prospects. Reporting directly into the Managing Director, you will produce increasingly effective, insightful and relevant MI to be shared and discussed with internal and external stakeholders. This will allow the senior team to make faster and more informed decisions around efficiency, commercial strategy and growth. You will also partner the senior team in championing financial control & understanding the business in an enthusiastic and collaborative manner.

Leading a team of 2 transactional staff, you will have a stable background with a remit covering but not exclusive to:

Lead, develop and inspire your direct reports to achieve their potential and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the finance department. Responsible for all financial accounting within the company as well as statutory reporting requirements. Lead on operational processes within the finance department including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, VAT and other HMRC returns, Internal Controls and Banking. As part of the Management Board, you will be responsible for contributing to the strategic planning and oversight of the company.

You will be a qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with previous experience as a Financial Controller / Head of Finance. You will have proven experience of managing and developing direct reports, with strong organisational and planning skills to effectively lead the team. You will be comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment whilst being able to think strategically and drive change where appropriate to improve efficiency. Above all, you will be joining a growing independent business and a passionate and positive team with a keen sense of fun, and should share these values.
