The opportunity: My client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Cybersecurity Specialist to implement and maintain security controls for classified information systems. This role will focus on ensuring the integrity and security of their classified environments through proactive security management, assessments, and the implementation of best practices for network and system security. Responsibilities: Implement and maintain robust security controls for classified information systems. Assist in the configuration and administration of secure networks and systems. Conduct routine security assessments and vulnerability scans on classified systems. Contribute to the development and implementation of security policies and procedures specific to classified environments. Monitor security events and incidents within the classified network, ensuring rapid response and resolution. Support the accreditation and certification processes for classified systems. Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, security controls, and other necessary records. Collaborate with other team members to troubleshoot and resolve security issues. Participate in security awareness training for system users to enhance overall security culture. Stay informed on the latest cybersecurity threats and mitigation strategies relevant to classified environments. Requirements: Experience in cybersecurity, with a solid foundation in general IT. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Strong understanding of network security, endpoint protection, and cloud security concepts. Proficiency in using and managing SIEM tools and other security platforms. Experience in creating security procedures, run books, and reports. Proven ability to conduct threat hunting and root cause analysis. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work collaboratively with team members in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Qualifications: Relevant advanced certifications such as CISSP, GIAC, or CEH. Experience with security orchestration and automation tools. Knowledge of regulatory compliance standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, HIPAA). Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell for automation and analysis. Experience in designing and implementing security architectures. Special Requirements: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret or higher-level security clearance. Ability to work non-standard hours or be on-call for security incidents.
