We are looking for an Elderly Care Consultant to join our team. We welcome dynamic, enthusiastic candidates who are passionate about providing great medical care to our elderly population and are keen to be involved in innovative service development and quality improvement within an outstanding organisation. KHFT has a much higher proportion of very elderly patients within emergency admissions compared with the London (and England) average and expansion of the elderly care department reflects the large number of elderly people being cared for in our hospital. All our Care of the Elderly wards and several other areas in the hospital have been refurbished to a high standard to create a dementia friendly environment. There is a dynamic Frailty Team working in the Emergency Department and we will be shortly opening a Frailty Same Day Emergency Care. Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Qualifications
Full GMC Registration (or eligibility to obtain). CCT in Geriatric Medicine and Acute or General Medicine on GMC’s Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT from the date of the interview or have confirmed eligibility for Specialist Registration. Clinical Experience
Current wide range of geriatric medicine as well as general and acute medicine experience. Knowledge and experience of working with surgical liaison models. Management Skills
Attended management training course. Knowledge of finance / budgets. Experience in Training, Audit and Research
Demonstrable commitment and ability to teach and train undergraduates and junior doctors. Experience of clinical audit. Completed ‘Train the Trainers’ course. Relevant research articles in peer-reviewed journals. Personal Qualities
Demonstrate leadership skills within a multidisciplinary team. Ability to motivate staff, to facilitate appropriate changes in clinical practice and to work as part of a team. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, enthusiasm and approachability. Commitment to continuing professional development and clinical governance. Evidence of innovation.
