This is a full-time appointment for a Trust Grade Doctor in Renal Medicine. The appointment is for 6 months but may be extendable. The post is based in the renal unit at St James Hospital, supporting all aspects of renal care including renal transplantation. You will be an integral part of the renal unit working as part of the large multi-professional team. You will be working as part of a 1 in 9 out of hours rota. The post holder will be an integral part of the renal unit working as part of the large multi-professional team. You will be involved in the running of the inpatient ward areas, taking referrals and queries from other health care providers, and working on our day unit. You will also be involved in care of patients attending the haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis units. You will be trained in the insertion of temporary and semi-permanent dialysis catheters, will attend multidisciplinary team meetings, and be able to attend outpatient services including specialist clinics. About us

The renal unit in Leeds is in St James Hospital, part of the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The unit is a tertiary referral centre for patients throughout Yorkshire. All aspects of renal care are provided including acute transplantation. There are two inpatient wards, and outreach service (including haemodialysis) to the Leeds General Infirmary, onsite haemodialysis for 130 patients, a peritoneal dialysis unit, and a specialist outpatient facility. Haemodialysis is delivered to 800 outpatients via the 7 satellite units. We have an expanding home dialysis service, and more than 50% of our patients are involved in shared care. In a department of 17 consultants, 2 specialist trust grade doctors, 2 advanced nurse practitioners in haemodialysis, and a multidisciplinary team including over 200 nursing staff, clinical nurse specialists, and allied health professionals, there is opportunity to experience all aspects of the renal curriculum. Additional Requirements

Experience in inserting temporary dialysis catheters Clinical, Academic, and Personal Skills

Excellent interpersonal skills Clinical Experience and Career Progression

Completion of foundation training and IMT Previous experience in working in the NHS Previous experience working in renal medicine Qualifications

MBChB or equivalent MRCP ALS Eligibility, Fitness to practice, and Language Skills

Be eligible for full registration with, and hold a current licence to practise from, the GMC at intended start date Eligibility to work in the UK. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
