L71 SENIOR SOLICITOR (Planning, Property, Contracts and Procurement) The Council is looking to recruit a Senior Solicitor to join its experienced team within Legal Services. In this role, you will support stakeholders by providing specialist legal advice, representation, and assistance across a range of planning, property, and procurement matters. We’re looking for an individual who has experience in: Planning law (drafting planning enforcement notices, providing planning advice, attending planning committees monthly) Commercial property matters (acquisitions, sales, commercial leases) Local government experience is desirable, but we welcome applications from all parts of the legal sector The successful candidate must be a qualified Solicitor/Barrister/FILEX with a current Practising Certificate The ideal candidate would be: Able to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, with officers internally and externally with courts, barristers, professional bodies, stakeholders, and members of the public Self-motivated with the ability to handle a large and varied complex caseload Innovative, strategic, and practical Resilient, enthusiastic, and possess personal diplomacy Someone who embodies our GREAT values and behaviors What you need to know: A requirement for this role is to attend the Council’s Planning Committee meeting each month. Successfully shortlisted candidates will be asked to attend a formal interview, which may include a test/scenario/exercise to determine suitability for the role.
