We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in Nutrition to join our multidisciplinary team. As a Band 7 CNS in Nutrition, you will be responsible for providing expert advice, management, and care to patients with complex nutritional needs, including nasogastric tube (NGT) insertions, managing and troubleshooting blocked percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) tubes, delivering comprehensive training and supporting the clinical teams to provide the best nutrition for all our patients. This position requires a passionate advocate for patient-centred care with advanced skills in clinical nutrition. You will be a key clinical leader, supporting the development and implementation of best practices, enhancing quality of care, and empowering both patients and healthcare professionals with knowledge and expertise in nutrition. Nurses with some experience in this field will be considered for a band 6 to 7 development post. Main duties of the job

Deliver high-quality, evidence-based care to patients with diverse nutritional needs, including those with malnutrition, enteral and parenteral feeding requirements, and complex metabolic issues. Act as a clinical resource and provide specialist advice, assessments, and interventions for patients and the wider healthcare team with a particular focus on NGTs and managing blocked PEG tubes. Develop individualised care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals, ensuring each patient's nutritional needs are met. Educate and support patients, families, and carers, enabling them to participate effectively in the management of nutritional interventions. Work closely with the multidisciplinary team, including gastroenterologists, nurses, dietitians, physicians, and pharmacists, to ensure a holistic approach to patient care. Lead on quality improvement projects related to nutrition, auditing, and service evaluation to enhance patient outcomes and service efficiency. Education and qualifications

Qualified Registered Nurse Experience as a Band 6 would be considered for a Band 6 to Band 7 Development post Band 7 Experience Specific Nutritional Training/study Knowledge

Knowledge of the British Society of Gastroenterology and NICE guidelines on nutrition Knowledge of the management of patients with malnutrition. Knowledge of the management of feeding lines. Knowledge of critical analysis and application of research to practice Be able to competently use information technology systems and programs to produce reports and enhance communication Knowledge of Quality Improvement Methodology. Post-registration experience working in relevant field of practice, and as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Experience of caring for patients with complex nutritional care needs Experience of working in partnership with multi-disciplinary team members Quality Improvement experience Experience of developing standards, guidelines and policies Experience in audit and evaluation of practice/ service.
