About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled
Technical Director
to take on a key technical leadership role working with our
Christchurch
Land Development team (primarily) and our wider Land Development teams nationally. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to lead on the delivery of some of HG’s biggest projects and contribute towards our vision of being the #1 urban development partner in Aotearoa. We are set for a busy 2025 and have a varied pipeline of work including residential, urban re-construction, infrastructure, and commercial developments that shape the future of our local communities. Key responsibilities: Play a key role in influencing and shaping HG’s strategic direction of our Land Development services nationally. Provide technical Land Development advice, opinion and leadership to the team across a range of complex civil engineering projects from initial concept design through to construction completion. Maintain existing client relationships and drive business development initiatives such as leveraging your existing network and identifying opportunities to enhance HG’s future project prospects. Support professional development within our team of Civil Engineers and Designers through mentorship and guidance in an environment that encourages knowledge sharing and continuous learning. Work alongside the National Land Development Manager in the implementation of the national strategic business plan including growth strategy, business development, marketing strategies and budget targets as well as demonstrating and embedding values and expected behaviours. Be a recognised urban development leader, stay up to date with industry changes or amendments and relay these changes across the business. Play a key role in shaping better urban development for a diverse range of public and private clients across Aotearoa. About you Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. CPEng registered. 18+ years of New Zealand-based Land Development experience including civil engineering design and consenting, as well as the administration of civil construction contracts. Strong client relationship management and project management skills. Proficiency with design concepts and models to allow for review of designs. Strategic thinking, strong commercial acumen and the ability to articulate a clear vision through planning and execution.
