We seek a self-motivated, experienced Project Manager to join Linaro’s Engineering team. To succeed in this position, the individual must have project management experience in software services or development, solid customer-facing skills, and technical software knowledge related to open-source or embedded systems. The Project Manager plays a crucial role in managing an ecosystem of projects to ensure timely delivery and manage project stakeholders' and customers’ expectations. The project works with the team to track deliverables, identify/resolve project risks, and proactively communicate the project status to stakeholders internally and at the customer level. Travel: Linaro is a widely distributed company, so travel is occasionally required. The Project Manager will attend twice-yearly Linaro Connect events and may also be required to participate in project kick-off meetings and development sprints as needed. Key responsibilities and accountabilities: Maintain day-to-day operational tracking and communications of projects to customers. Manage multiple complex projects - work prioritization, estimating, scheduling, and establishing risk mitigation plans. Control and maintain project requirements (JIRA) Manage and coordinate project financials using Linaro’s financial and time tracking system (Kantata) Maintain ownership reporting and communication with internal/external stakeholders (Confluence) Control project scope, budget, and schedule using appropriate change control processes Trigger escalation of issues when necessary Coordinate inter-team dependencies and communication Contribute to process improvement initiatives as it relates to improving project delivery. Required skills and experience: At least 7+ years of direct technical project management experience in a software/hardware technology company Strong understanding of Linux and the broader Open Source ecosystem, including licensing, development process, and source code hosting Experience with project management tools such as Jira, Confluence, Google Desktop Communications: Excellent English skills, both verbal and written. Competence in clear, concise, and tactful communication with senior management, clients, and peers. An ability to communicate technical issues with people of varying degrees of technical experience Experience working and managing widely geographically distributed teams across disparate time zones to achieve successful outcomes Adept at leveraging various development methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) to accomplish goals Experience working and managing in a customer-facing environment (strong people skills) Highly innovative, flexible, and self-directed, with an ability to work from home productively is a must Ability to travel domestically and internationally Desired Skills and Experience: PMP, CSM, or PRINCE2 certification preferred Track record of taking ownership and managing expectations.
