Join us in helping the New Forest deliver on its economic potential

Are you ready to make a difference in helping to shape the local economy and supporting vibrant communities in one of the most beautiful and unique districts in the UK?

New Forest District Council is seeking a proactive and innovative Economic Development Officer to support local businesses, drive investment and contribute to our efforts in enabling a prosperous and sustainable future for the New Forest.

The past year has seen us prepare a new Corporate Plan, begin work on our new Local Plan and work increasingly closely with the Solent Freeport and the potential growth opportunities arising. If you are wanting to join an organisation committed to transformation and supporting the transition to a low carbon economy, we would love you to come and join us at this pivotal time of change and help us make decisions with real and lasting impact.

About the role

As an Economic Development Officer, you will assist the Team Leader in encouraging sustainable economic development within the district including supporting economic initiatives at both a local and sub-regional level, an emerging skills agenda, increased emphasis on partnership working and wider regeneration aspirations.

What’s in it for you?

£38,928 - £41,895 per annum (up to £43,093 for exceptional performance once in post)

27 days annual leave (plus an additional weeks equivalent after 5 years’ service)

Local Government Pension Scheme and AVC provision

Hybrid working

Wide range of employee discounts at high street retailers, including supermarkets, stores and restaurants

A Cycle to Work scheme which could save you around 40 percent on cycles and accessories

Employee Assistance Programme (free 24 hour legal, financial and personal advice for employees).

About us

As one of the largest districts in the country, with 6 towns and a close relationship with neighbouring conurbations, the New Forest provides a supportive environment in which everyone who works for us can help drive our aims.

We recognise the value of a highly motivated and engaged workforce and we actively encourage a good work/life balance. We offer a modern and flexible smart working approach, including remote and home working whenever this fits with service delivery. We are open to discussing flexible working options.

At NFDC we believe that all our employees make a valuable contribution to the work of the Council and that's why we encourage a trusting and open culture where each employee is supported and respected equally, where ideas are actively sought and self-development promoted.

If you're ambitious and passionate, are driven to deliver, and want to be part of our team, we welcome your application.
