The Senior Data Scientist is responsible for spearheading innovation, development and application of AI solutions that generate market insights and high-quality sales leads, enhancing customer engagement and directly driving sales.

This position reports to the AI Sales Integration Manager and is part of the Data Science and AI Team located in Cambridge, UK, and will be on-site. At Abcam, our vision is to be the most influential life sciences company for researchers worldwide.

This role will initially be a 12-month fixed-term contract with the possibility of extension.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

Apply AI to solve real-world challenges, generate insights, sales leads and optimize sales strategy and actions. Innovate, develop, test, and embed scalable AI models, rapidly apply existing AI methodologies, validate performance, and utilize statistical techniques for result interpretation and validation. Analyze data from various sources using best-practice coding standards and a state-of-the-art AI Technology Stack. Produce actionable insights and compelling visualizations, define data requirements, while identifying and mitigating risks and governing AI applications. Collaborate across teams to drive AI innovation, while expanding your expertise within an experienced, inclusive, and international team. The essential requirements of the job include:

BSc or MSc in Data Science or a related field. Multiple years of industry experience in data science. Proficiency in Python and related ML libraries. Understanding of LLMs and experience in how to realize their full potential in frameworks such as OpenAI. Proven experience in developing, deploying and applying AI models as part of a CI/CD pipeline, and deploying applications using cloud technologies. It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

Commercial awareness and understanding of Sales and Marketing strategies. Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
