This role is a great opportunity to lead the Analytical Department and shape how it works within an expanding global organization. You will work closely with some of the most innovative biotech and pharma companies on their most important programs. The Role: We are looking for an experienced Scientific and Line Leader who is seeking a new challenge. You will join a team that identifies, develops and optimises synthetic routes to APIs, supporting both early and late phase development. Lead a department of highly skilled analytical chemists and generate and review technical proposals for potential new projects. Support global initiatives and strategy, collaborating with peers in the Sai organization across departments. Provide expert Analytical advice to Process Chemistry colleagues and clients. Support release of materials to clients through characterisation using a variety of analytical techniques (e.g. LC, NMR, MS). Oversee all development projects within the Analytical organization and guide resource prioritization. Minimum Requirements: Higher or bachelor’s degree in Analytical Chemistry or related scientific discipline with several years’ relevant experience in an Analytical Chemistry laboratory within the pharmaceutical industry. In-depth understanding of working to cGMP and analysis and release of material for clinical supply. Strong scientific track record with both project and line leadership experience. Experience in the design, development and optimisation of analytical methods for novel APIs, intermediates and raw materials. In-depth understanding of regulatory requirements for the development and validation of methods for pharmaceuticals. Hands-on expertise and up-to-date knowledge of analytical methodologies. Experience in generating specifications and out of specification investigations. Demonstrated expertise in Analytical Chemistry in support of process development for the manufacture of APIs. Experience of line management and enabling personal development of a team of scientists. Key Roles and Responsibilities: Contribute to departmental objective setting and continuous improvement. Participate in the Sai Manchester Site Leadership Team. Line management and personal development responsibility for direct reports. Responsible for the scientific output of the analytical chemistry department. Work within multi-functional project teams operating to tight deadlines. Lead the analytical aspects of projects both at Alderley and with analysts in India. Guide resource planning and help prioritize analytical work to meet project timelines.
