Overview and purpose of the role The main purpose of this role is to make a significant contribution to the development of Flusso’s core sensor technology portfolio, including: Creation of ideas and inventions for enhancing and extending our core technology, ensuring its cost-effectiveness and competitiveness. Hands-on development of core technology assets, including prototyping, characterisation, validation, and qualification. Collaboration with manufacturing partners for the development of manufacturing processes and production test solutions for sensor devices. Responsibilities Ideation of new sensor technology and product concepts and contribution of them to Flusso’s roadmaps, in line with business strategy; Design of MEMS devices for sensor products: Study of existing technology and coming up with novel MEMS concepts Contribution to MEMS wafer process requirements and specifications Theoretical and numerical analysis Modelling & simulation. Validating modelling/simulation results with experimental data MEMS layout and design Materials specification and selection Provide inputs for and review qualification specification and tests. Packaging recommendations for new MEMS Contribution of ideas for the creation of protectable IP, and in drafting patent applications; Design of experiments and hands-on testing for proof of concept for new designs and ideas, including where necessary: Design/update of circuitry Firmware modification for test purposes Coming up with optimal designs or techniques to extract sensor data with best signal to noise ratios. Analysis of test data to extract information about true performance of new sensing technology, products, and solutions; Participation in project planning activities, in particular for estimation of time/effort needed for sensor development tasks; Reporting project task status and presenting results for peer review in project team meetings; Qualifications, knowledge, skills & experience Bachelor’s degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering or similar field. Postgraduate degree strongly preferred. Extensive experience in the development of MEMS devices, with significant know-how (including knowledge of relevant tools) of one or more of: Simulations and/or layout Wafer process development and fabrication Packaging Device characterisation & testing Device qualification Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge and experience in one or more of the following: Sensor development Circuits and/or firmware Data Analysis Relevant patents and/or publications in the field. Profile Having excellent theoretical knowledge and analytical skills. Enjoys developing new technology ideas and product concepts. Willing to learn new technology and skills beyond their core expertise. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, start-up environment. Pro-active by nature, responsive to changing needs of projects and the business. Good communication, documentation, and presentation skills. Highly conscious of the importance of: Complete and well-defined requirements for technology and solutions Careful management and control of design information and data to avoid costly loss or corruption of information Compensation and Benefits Base salary Bonus (% of base salary) based on company and personal performance Workplace pension contribution 3% of full base salary (we can trade with salary level for higher) Bupa Cash Plan Level 3 (employee only) Private Medical insurance with cover for spouse/partner and dependent children Group Life Insurance covers up to 4 x salary 25 days holiday plus bank holidays (adjusted for part-time roles) Support for relocation (loan discharged over two years service)
