Opportunity : Associate Director Location : Liverpool Position type : Permanent Salary : Negotiable and Competitive A vacancy exists for an Associate Director to join our Highway & Rail Structures division within the Liverpool office. The role is within a well-established team and will further enable growth of the team.

The role would involve managing and delivering projects under the guidance of a director. The role would also support the continuation and growth of the business. There are opportunities to take on responsibilities suitable to your experience.

The work involves varied and challenging highway & rail structures projects for both public and private sector clients. Experience of both highway structures and rail structures is desirable; however, the candidate may have experience in only one of the areas.

The Associate Director role will support with developing and securing the pipeline of work. In addition, fundamental to the role will be a ‘hands-on’ approach to working with the team to manage delivery of projects, including: monitoring workload and programmes, reviewing deliverables, and providing support and guidance on technical and non-technical aspects of projects. Typically, the technical support to the team would be from a high level; however, the ability to undertake the detail would be desirable.

The opportunity is a well-rounded role, with excellent career prospects available for the right candidate. Duties will involve: Team management. Business development and winning work. Preparation and supervision of inspections, assessments, feasibility studies, scheme design, design calculations (a working knowledge of Eurocodes and DMRB is desired), preparation of contract documents, and specifications. Project management, particularly supervising the team’s delivery for projects and dealing with clients. Specific objectives include: To provide high-level technical services to clients. To provide support, training, and guidance to other staff. To manage and monitor team workloads and delivery to clients, including review of deliverables and meeting programmes. Reporting to the Highway & Rail Structures director and supporting business activities, including business development and work winning.

Experience of working in a civil/structural design consultancy office is essential. Experience obtained should be suitable to demonstrate the required abilities of managing a team, deliverables, and technical aspects. Chartered Engineer status is required.
