Senior FMA Engineer

- £32/hr (Inside IR35) - Hybrid (Coventry/Warwickshire) - 6 Months (potential to renew)

Position Description: You will be joining a dynamic team dedicated to improving quality and customer satisfaction. In this position, you will be joining the Issue Prevention department, whose purpose is to deliver exceptional customer experience by driving technical risk reduction at the earliest opportunity through coaching, mentoring and facilitating Failure Mode Avoidance methodologies throughout the enterprise.

Responsibilities: Reviewing the maturity of Powertrain DFMEAs to drive their continuous improvement, sharing the results and working alongside the Engineering Teams to define & deliver improvement plans. Supporting Engineering with FMA workstream scoping and prioritisation. Articulating FMA KPIs to stakeholders around the business. Acting as coach, facilitator and/or mentor of FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and DRBFM (Design Review Based on Failure Modes) projects on new and existing products. Driving risk reduction in Engineering via deep dives on targeted commodities and failure modes. Providing improvement suggestions to our FMA (Failure Mode Avoidance) processes, tools and training materials.

Skills Required: Failure Mode Avoidance / DFMEA. Product Engineering & Release. Relationship building & collaboration.

Experience Required: Technical: A deep theoretical and practical understanding of Failure Mode Avoidance. Working knowledge of Product Development processes. Experience as an DFMEA author, coach, assessor and/or moderator. Experience in delivery of complex projects across a wide range of stakeholders to deliver objectives to demanding timelines. Good interpersonal / communication skills, incl. presentation, analytical and written skills. Good understanding of prevent recurrence and issue management processes.

A good communicator with the ability to communicate complex ideas and influence stakeholders. An effective team player who proactively supports team members. Self-motivation, dependability, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Is action-oriented, proactive and works at pace. Is adaptable, resilient, and open to change.

Experience: Experience of FMEA industry standards / guidance (AIAG-VDA and/or SAE). Experience using Reliasoft or similar FMA software. Experience using Tableau. Experience in systems engineering (and ideally Model Based System Engineering). Experience with working on Agile project teams. Experience with Requirements management and design verification planning. Physics of failure knowledge.

Additional Information: This role is on a contract basis and is Inside IR35. Hybrid working is available with this role. The exact details to be agreed with the successful candidate but expectation is a minimum of 1 day a week on-site (Warwickshire or Coventry sites).
