Your role

This is a surveillance role that is unrivalled by mostin the world. By becoming an Airborne Electronics Analyst in the Air Force, you are becoming the eyes and ears of the Air Force. Working on board P-8A Poseidon Maritime Patrol Aircraft or E-7A Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) aircraft, your role is to work with some of the most sophisticated surveillance equipment in the world to receive and analyse information that is critical for the success of Air Force missions. Those missions could include search and rescue operations, detection and identification of warships, large merchant vessels, illegal fishing boats and incursions, and conducting above and below surface warfare. To do this, you'll have a range of tools at your disposal, including:

Radar, used for surface surveillance and searches for small targets such as submarine periscopes, weather analysis, terrain avoidance, classifying contacts for Harpoon missile targeting and search and rescue; Electro Optics, used for detecting heat signatures of targets and analysing and classifying targets day and night; and Magnetic Anomaly Detectors, used for detecting changes in the earth's magnetic field caused by large metal objects, such as submarines. This is a role where you can make a real contribution to Australia's safety and security. Salary

You'll earn a good salary from day one, with a starting salary of $51,277 per annum plus 16.4% superannuation when you start your training, which increases as you progress. On completion of your initial military training and initial employment training, you could earn $88,174 per annum plus 16.4% superannuation.

Location

Upon completion of your training in , NSW and Edinburgh, SA, you may be posted RAAF Base Edinburgh, RAAF Base Williamtown, RAAF Base Tindal or potentially overseas.
