Great opportunity for a Solicitor Private Client to assist the client’s department in meeting fee earning targets and ensuring the successful development of the firm in line with the current published Business Plan. You will be responsible for handling will, power of attorney, trust, probate and tax advice work for private clients and to build and develop own case load. Key Responsibilities as Solicitor Private Client: Management of support services including supervision of own secretary if appropriate. Participation in marketing activities whether on a firm-wide, departmental or office basis. Utilise skills of any department Trainee and to assist with the Trainee’s training. Financial control with regard to cash-flow control through collection of monies on account and billing procedures. Participate fully in the activities of the team and assist during the absence of other fee earners. Carry out work outside of normal hours where the work requires this. Travelling to client meetings both in and outside the UK when required. Promoting good file management. Formulating and advancing internal procedures. To ensure compliance with Lexcel and other regulatory procedures. Competence in chosen area of law and practice. Achieve targets in respect of chargeable hours, fees, recovery rate, lock-up and non-chargeable time as Solicitor and is looking to progress. Develop and maintain a client/referrer base. Understand and undertake proper referral of work to relevant departments and development of work for other departments. Where appropriate, supervises junior members of staff. Involved in practice development. Key Requirements: A good honours Degree. Show willingness to be involved in activities of the firm outside of work within the department to which the individual is assigned. Interpersonal, social and communication skills (including an appreciation of the vulnerability of some of our clients, both generally and also specifically at distressing times). Ability to work effectively as part of a team and under pressure. Computer literate with an ability to develop its use in own functional area. Enthusiasm and commitment. A sound knowledge of your responsibilities as a solicitor including in the following areas: - Rules and principles of professional conduct. - Client care. - Conflicts of interest. - Confidentiality Relations with third parties. - Relations with other solicitors. - Regulatory and compliance procedures. Prior knowledge of Lexcel, Practice Evolve or other office management systems. Specialist area knowledge.
