Permanent About the London Metal Exchange: The London Metal Exchange (LME) is the world centre for industrial metals trading. In 2022, 134.2 million lots were traded, equating to $15.2 trillion and 3.1 billion tonnes notional, with a market open interest high of 1.8 million lots. The metals community uses the LME, an HKEX Group company, as a venue to transfer or take on price risk, as a physical market of last resort and as the provider of transparent global reference prices. Overall Purpose of Role: Assist the team in managing the development and performance of SQL databases, being responsible for the day-to-day support of Database Services, focusing on: Supporting Business-As-Usual activity for the database team Incident and change management process Monitoring and alerting Responsibilities: Ensuring all database servers are backed up in a way that meets the business’s Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) Testing backups to ensure we can meet the business’ Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) Troubleshooting SQL Server service outages as they occur Configuring SQL Server monitoring utilities to minimize false alarms Monitoring and reporting on all database checks Performing database and software life-cycle activities to ensure highest level of system performance and availability Working with the senior DBA to assist in database deployment Documenting the company’s database environment Performance, compatibility testing and dependency management between components Automation and scripting of delivery processes or frameworks such as a build or application delivery Collaborating with other software engineers and managers, technical leads, and developers to ensure successful delivery of software projects Contributing to the delivery of efficient solutions to meet business continuity and disaster recovery requirements Academic and Professional Qualifications Required: Degree educated, in a technical discipline Any professional qualifications (MS SQL, ITIL or similar) would be useful Required Knowledge and Level of Experience: SQL and relational databases Windows/Linux and Database Security concepts Clustering, disaster recovery and high availability Automation using Ansible or similar tools Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, Java, SQL, Powershell, etc.) Exposure to cloud technologies would be useful The LME is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
