Winchester College seeks to appoint a Director of Admissions to lead a committed and experienced team at an existing time of expansion. This is a key strategic role that will make an important contribution to the School’s strategic development. We are looking for an exceptional individual who has the intelligence, warmth, vision, leadership and communication skills to be an outstanding ambassador for Winchester in the UK and internationally. Applications are climbing year on year, and the Admissions team now needs additional capacity in preparation for a significant increase in Sixth Form pupils from September 2026. With wider changes in the education sector in the UK and globally, the School is also renewing its strategic planning for future enrolments. The role will require regular international travel. The newly-created Director of Admissions will assume overall responsibility for enrolments, with the current Registrar continuing to focus on the key intake of 13+ boy boarders via dotted line to the Headmaster. This role will line manage the admissions team, reporting directly to the Headmaster and will be a member of the extended Senior Management Team. About Winchester College The school was founded by William of Wykeham, Bishop of Winchester, in 1382. Winchester College is a boarding and day school of over 735 pupils. In September 2022, the College welcomed day pupils into the Sixth Form and will continue to do so, over time expanding the entry each year to include girl boarders in 2026. Situated in the heart of Winchester and within easy reach of London, there are few schools in the world which can claim to be as historic, distinguished, and beautiful as Winchester College. Terms and Applications This is a full-time role, 37.5 hours per week, and such other hours as are reasonably necessary to meet the needs of the College and the demands of the role. Flexible start date for the right candidate with preference for commencement at the beginning of January 2025. Competitive salary, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits include a generous pension scheme and access to on-site sports facilities, with wider support available for wellbeing and development. Closing date for applications: Monday, 30 September at 12 Noon. Only applications completed on the school website will be accepted. Please attach a full CV with your online application form and send a covering letter to recruitment@wincoll.ac.uk. Please note that applications will be dealt with as they arrive. Winchester College reserves the right to close the application process early should a suitable candidate be found. Winchester College is a truly international community that celebrates everyone’s individuality, talents and potential and offers regular training and career development opportunities. We embrace diversity and inclusion in the workplace and are committed to promoting a fair and supportive environment for all our employees. We work hard to create a culture where different perspectives are valued and our staff feel valued for their individuality, and share a sense of belonging. Our aim is to reflect the diverse nature of society and of our pupil body. Safeguarding Winchester College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children: applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers, and obtaining an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services certificate. Staff will receive appropriate safeguarding training which is regularly updated.
