Job Overview

Your expertise in robotics, software coding, and technical project management will be crucial for successful project delivery. You will be responsible for the development and implementation of advanced robotic software systems. You will lead a project team of software engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful delivery of projects.

Responsibilities:

Lead the design, development, and deployment of robotic software systems for client projects.

Design and develop software applications and algorithms for robotics systems using modern Object Oriented languages (C# and C++) or embedded code (C).

Collaborate with electronics, mechanical, and systems engineers to integrate software with hardware components and robotics platforms.

Requirements

Proven experience in leading software development, with a focus on robotics or autonomous systems.

Experience designing software for Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS) (e.g. VxWorks, QNX or SafeRTOS).

Proficiency in modern Object Oriented languages (C#, C++) or embedded code (C).

Solid understanding of robotics principles, including kinematics, dynamics, and control theory with robotics frameworks and middleware (e.g. ROS2) and digital position controllers.

Skills/Personal Qualities:

Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Desire to push for continuous improvement and deliver quality software.

Previous experience in working in a technology consultancy company.

Good academic track record with a degree or postgraduate qualification in computer science or engineering.

Experience in medical development processes.

A Day in the Life

You will be responsible for devising the solution architecture, establishing technical standards, and evaluating new approaches and technology options. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the code. Projects vary in duration from a few months to several years. Typical projects involve a skilled and collaborative cross-disciplinary team that uses best practice product development in electronics design, mechanical design, and product/software design.

Your work will predominately be based at our Sagentia offices in Harston, Cambridge. There may also be opportunities to travel to client sites in Europe or USA as well as to support project work at other Science Group sites. You will operate in a dynamic environment addressing various challenges for different clients.
