As a Principal Project Engineer / Technical Specialist in the Grid Services team, you will play a key role in the design and development of Statkraft’s Greener Grid Parks, focusing on Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). You'll be responsible for overseeing optimal technical design concepts at development stages, ensuring projects can be delivered and commercially sound business cases can be supported. The position will work closely with development Project Managers and provide input to procurement and construction teams. With most current projects being BESS, expertise in this field is preferred. Your role will help decarbonize the GB electricity system, increase renewable energy use, and displace fossil fuels to deliver Net Zero. Manage Project Engineering activities including: Design management of the Greener Grid Park development portfolio. Manage resources for producing physical design and access layouts using AutoCAD. Work with the GIS team to produce constraints mapping for initial design. Solve technical questions and challenges in designing Greener Grid Parks. Manage design documentation and conduct design risk assessments for each project. Document design decisions in the Design Basis Report. Support the Planning Team with input into planning drawings. Review planning documentation focusing on safety and noise. Check and review design reports and calculations from contractors. Participate in the fire safety working group for BESS. Manage Principal Designer responsibilities per CDM regulations. Support production of Employer’s Requirements documents for contracts. Produce and review single/key line diagrams for projects. Review and assess technical parts of tender responses. Input to project cost estimates and assess options for optimizing costs. Minimum Requirements

Masters/university degree in engineering or related field. Numerically literate with ability to direct and assess studies. Conversant with GB grid connections and BESS requirements. Contract technical drafting experience. Strong knowledge of CDM regulations. Experience with multi-million pound project delivery. Interest in renewables and experience with battery energy storage systems. Proactive, solution-oriented with strong attention to detail. Strong communication and relationship-building skills. Well-organized and target-oriented with prioritization skills. Ability to frame issues with context, analysis, recommendations, and risk/benefit. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. London and/or Glasgow based.
