Your role at Veezu: The Head of Engineering will be at the forefront of an incredibly exciting time for Veezu as we embark on a major digital transformation journey, seeking a visionary Head of Engineering to lead in bringing our outsourced app development in-house with a view to building our very own enterprise level and fully scalable B2C Mobile App, including building the foundation for and future culture of the Engineering teams.

This greenfield project will redefine our digital landscape, enhancing our capabilities and creating seamless experiences for our users.

What you'll do: Leadership and Strategy

Lead the engineering team in the insourcing of mobile app development, ensuring alignment with business goals.

Develop and execute a strategic plan for the digital transformation, including resource allocation, timeline, and budget management.

Build and mentor a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

Project Management

Oversee the transition from the outsourced provider to an in-house development model, ensuring a seamless and efficient process.

Manage the entire software development lifecycle, from concept to deployment, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products.

Implement Agile methodologies to enhance productivity and streamline processes.

Technical Excellence

Provide technical direction and guidance to the engineering team, ensuring best practices in architecture, design, and coding.

Ensure the mobile app meets high standards of performance, security, scalability, and user experience.

Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, integrating relevant innovations into the project.

Collaboration and Communication

Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Product Management, Design, QA, and Operations, to deliver cohesive and user-centric solutions.

Communicate project status, challenges, and successes to stakeholders, providing regular updates and transparent reporting.

Work with senior management to align engineering initiatives with business objectives and strategic goals.

Quality and Performance

Establish robust testing and quality assurance processes to ensure the reliability and performance of the mobile app.

Monitor and analyse app performance metrics, making data-driven decisions for continuous improvement.

Implement and maintain best practices in cyber-security and data privacy.

Team Development

Recruit, hire, and retain top engineering talent, building a team capable of executing the digital transformation vision.

Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities to team members, promoting growth and career advancement.

Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment, encouraging knowledge sharing and innovation.

What you’ll need:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree or relevant advanced degree is a plus.

Proven experience as a Head of Engineering or similar leadership role, with a strong track record of managing digital transformation projects.

Extensive experience in B2C environments, with a deep understanding of mobile app development and deployment.

Exceptional leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.

Strong project management skills, with proficiency in Agile methodologies.

Excellent technical acumen, with a thorough understanding of modern engineering practices and technologies.

Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.

Experience with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Trello, or similar.

Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and data privacy regulations.

Be committed to maintaining our ISO27001 certification and setting high standards for Information Security compliance.

Where you’ll be:

This role will be based out of our Hodge House, Cardiff office.

This role will be hybrid, with the expectation that you will travel to and work from our hubs across the UK and Ireland as and when needed for the proper performance of your role.
