Trial Balance Consulting are delighted to have been exclusively re-engaged by one of our longstanding clients, a highly successful and rapidly expanding services business consisting of several business entities operating throughout Cornwall. They currently seek to recruit an Assistant Management Accountant to join their finance team. The role is offered as a permanent, full-time position to be based at the company’s headquarters in Truro (with parking), but with a potential hybrid option available if required (details to be discussed with shortlisted candidates). This is a broad role where the successful candidate will play a key part in supporting the finance function, reporting into an experienced and friendly Financial Controller (also introduced by Trial Balance Consulting). The opportunity would be particularly well suited to a candidate that seeks to enhance their management accounting skills, ultimately taking overall responsibility for the production of high-quality management information. Main duties of the role include: Assisting with the preparation of the monthly management accounts Assisting with all month-end procedures to tight deadlines Head up a range of finance-focused business partnering responsibilities Play a key role in administering funding claims and overseeing tender processes Ensure efficient accounts payable and receivable controls Bank/balance sheet reconciliations Assist with year-end and annual audit procedures Supporting the Finance Manager with various ad-hoc duties and tasks Work closely with colleagues outside of finance What we’re looking for: This role represents an exceptional opportunity for an Accounts Assistant/Assistant Accountant who wants to take a step up and focus on management reporting, so a strong desire and aptitude to develop your career is essential! Candidates will ideally be part/fully AAT or professionally qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA), though applicants with relevant vocational experience who are keen to progress will be given equal consideration. Good IT skills including an aptitude for picking up digital accounting platforms (Sage/Xero) are essential, as well as the ability to work as part of a close-knit team. The role works within a busy function and the successful candidate will liaise with many internal and external stakeholders, so good communication and team working skills are a prerequisite!
