In this pivotal role, you will use the A-EQUIP (Advocating for Education and Quality Improvement) approach to enhance the performance and experiences of our midwives and the women they care for.

As part of our high-quality, evidence-based maternity care department, you will coordinate the PMA team, ensuring they fulfill their duties effectively. You will promote regular restorative clinical supervision sessions, fostering a culture of openness and professional resilience. Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with local quality & safety, governance, and practice development teams, and network with PMAs across South Yorkshire Bassetlaw LMNS and beyond.

We are looking for a visionary leader with proven midwifery experience, excellent communication skills, and a strong understanding of the A-EQUIP model. Your ability to inspire and mentor a team, share best practices, and support quality improvement initiatives will be crucial.

Main duties of the job As the Lead Professional Midwifery Advocate (PMA), you will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of maternity care at Barnsley Hospital. Your primary purpose will be to support midwives using the A-EQUIP (Advocating for Education and Quality Improvement) model, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, professional resilience, and high-quality care for women.

You will coordinate the PMA team, ensuring they effectively fulfill their duties and promote regular restorative clinical supervision sessions. Your leadership will be instrumental in embedding a culture of openness, reflection, and accountability among midwives. Collaborating with local quality & safety, governance, and practice development teams, you will provide professional advice and support quality improvement initiatives.
