Hays Senior Finance are pleased to be working alongside a lovely SME business in the Kingswinford area as they look to recruit a new Finance Manager to join them in early January/February 2025 due to upcoming retirement. My client has been operating in the West Midlands for over 30 years and provides engineering, distribution and sales services for a parent company that's located in the US. Your new role
In this hands-on, number one position reporting directly into the Managing Director, you will take on a varied role and be responsible for controlling the day-to-day operations of the site locally.
Key duties:
Prepare and review monthly management accounts
Prepare and present year-end statutory accounts and support with audit
Contribute to the annual budgeting and planning process
Analyse financial information to assist business profitability and growth
Produce financial statements including P&L accounts, cash flows, variance analysis and commentaries
Manage capital expenditure and maintain fixed asset register
Lead, manage, guide and motivate the accounts and internal sales teams
Develop and implement department controls, processes and procedures
Manage stock levels and recognition of slow moving/obsolete stock etc.
Completion of VAT and Intrastat returns for UK and Germany
Responsible for payroll operations, UK and overseas, as well as HMRC reporting
Company secretarial duties such as corporate governance, maintaining statutory records and updating records on Companies House
What you'll need to succeed:
Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) - QBEs may be considered providing relevant experience/knowledge can be demonstrated
SME background with proven experience of operating in hands-on finance roles
Analytically minded with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights
Supportive, approachable and focused on developing teams to drive efficiency and accuracy
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Management and development of staff
Strong Excel skills and highly proficient with Sage - knowledge of Crystal reporting also highly advantageous
