The Department of Architecture at MIT is searching for a new Assistant Professor in Structural Design (Tenure Track). Candidates will be assessed primarily on the record and promise of exemplary research and effective teaching. Also important will be the degree to which a candidate can collaborate in research and teaching with others in diverse engineering and design disciplines. The Department seeks an individual who is committed to advancing knowledge that will enhance the ability of architects and engineers to design and build structural form through the use of digital technologies and computational methods. Other areas of expertise in building technologies will also be considered, particularly as they relate to materials, fabrication, or construction. A doctoral degree is preferred but not required. Teaching experience in a school of architecture or engineering will be valued. The candidate will be expected to: Advise graduate students in MIT's Building Technology and Master of Architecture degree programs. Participate in teaching subjects of building technology as well as architecture design studios at the undergraduate and graduate level.
