The Company Head of Training (HT) is a mandatory post-holder position at Leading Edge Aviation, responsible to the applicable National Approvals Authority (NAA) for ensuring the delivery of all professional pilot training across all locations is conducted safely and in accordance with the regulations. Leading Edge Aviation’s HT is ultimately responsible for maintaining the exacting high standards of training and safety standards, and in line with the applicable NAA regulations. In addition, the HT is a key member of the Leadership Team and integral to ensuring effective management across the Company, not just within the training area, providing leadership and direction whilst fully supporting the Senior Leadership Team. ROLE DUTIES Flight Safety Champion safe behaviour at all times on the ground and in the air, in full compliance with Leading Edge Aviation’s Safety Policies; Ensure that all students undertaking their professional pilot training are taught and maintain the principles and practices of Flight Safety; Be responsible for the company Safety Management System, actively encouraging participation from everyone involved in flying activity; Act as Chair of the Safety Advisory Group, participate as a member of the Safety Review Board and offer safety advice to the Accountable Manager whenever required; Ensure that all Air Safety Reports are filed, and all safety briefings are fully attended; Adhere at all times to any other safety standards that may be issued, whether at Company locations or third-party airports. Flight Training Maintain all approvals as issued by the NAA(s); Ensure all training is provided in compliance with appropriate regulation (including Part-FCL) with established training programmes; Ensure the satisfactory integration of flight training in an aircraft or a flight simulation training device (FSTD) and theoretical knowledge instruction; Have overall responsibility and oversight of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensuring their full application; Manage the Training syllabi, checklists, study guides and manuals, meeting and exceeding industry standards, in accordance with applicable regulations and in line with current airline practices; Ensure that all Instructors maintain high levels of training and standardisation; Ensure that all Training is delivered on-time; Conduct Training Review Boards, making final recommendations to the Accountable Manager; Manage and supervise students' individual progress and report deficiencies to the CFI. Line Management Line manage the Training Management team including the Chief Flying Instructor (CFI), Chief Theoretical Knowledge Instructor (CTKI) and Lead Multi-Crew Cooperation Instructor (LMCCI), ensuring the highest quality of training is delivered to all students; Take overall responsibility for maintaining the highest levels of employee, contractor and student discipline, in line with Leading Edge Aviation’s core values; Manage the performance of Instructors and students where necessary; Ensure that course standards, training requirements and objectives are taught properly by the Flight Instructor team. Administration Attend all administrative, standardisation and Instructor development meetings and in-service training as programmed; Attend open days and events as requested by their senior manager. CORE COMPETENCIES Be the approved post holder with the NAA(s); Maintain their license, ratings and medical in line with the Company requirements and the applicable Aviation Authority regulations; Hold or have held in the 3 years prior to first appointment as HT, a professional pilot licence and associated ratings or certificates issued in accordance with Part-FCL, related to the flight training courses provided; Extensive experience as an instructor in the areas relevant for the training provided by the ATO; Sound managerial capability; Extensive experience in training as an instructor for professional pilot licences and associated ratings or certificates; High personal and professional standard; Ability to work independently and on their own initiative when appropriate; Good report writing and IT skills.
