The Centre for Human Inspired Artificial Intelligence (CHIA) seeks to appoint two Assistant Professors to lead the new PhD and MPhil courses in Human-Inspired AI, with the first intake planned for October 2025. Educated to a PhD level, the role holders will have core technical expertise in machine learning, human-computer interaction, computer vision, speech and/or natural language processing, robotics, mobile systems or another area of human-facing AI. In addition to excellence in research and teaching in their area, we emphasise a proven ability to work interdisciplinarily with other disciplines that are central to the development of human-inspired AI (e.g., arts and humanities or social, cognitive, clinical, environmental or other relevant sciences). Successful candidates will have prior experience of teaching delivery and ideally also of the design of teaching materials. They will have excellent presentation and communication skills. The post holders will be expected to co-lead on delivering CHIA's new PhD and MPhil in Human-Inspired Artificial Intelligence, conduct impactful and internationally leading research in their areas of speciality, and contribute to the long-term development of CHIA.
