Summary We are now looking for an apprentice Chartered Accountant to join our team in Plymouth starting September 2025. Training to become a Chartered Accountant is both rewarding and challenging and can open huge opportunities for you; many of our staff started their career as a trainee with us and have stayed with us throughout their working life.

Annual wage: £23,000 a year. As you progress through the qualification, your salary will increase.

Accountancy or taxation professional (level 7)

Hours:

Monday - Wednesday 8.45am - 5.00pm with a 1-hour lunch, Thursday 8.45am - 5.00pm with a 45-minute lunch, and Friday 8.45am - 4.30pm with a 45-minute lunch. Total: 36 hours a week.

Work:

As an apprentice, you'll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You'll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you'll do at work: You will undertake both practical and theoretical training whilst studying for your ACA qualification under an apprenticeship agreement. We will fund your training and provide you with paid study leave to attend the courses, so you will be earning while you are learning. You will get support from more experienced staff and Partners whilst assisting on client assignments. Some of the duties will include preparing financial statements for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders; auditing financial statements and tax compliance work, to mention just a few. You will have the opportunity to visit clients' premises to carry out your role, and your work will be a mixture of teamwork and projects undertaken individually.

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

Accountancy or taxation professional (level 7) - Equal to master's degree

Understand their legal responsibilities, both within the letter and the spirit of the law, as well as be aware of the procedures for reporting concerns over potentially unethical activities. Take ownership of allocated projects and effectively manage their own time and the time of others. Demonstrate good project management skills to deliver high-quality work within the appropriate timeline. Act as a role model and motivate others to deliver results. Evaluate information quickly and draw accurate conclusions. Assess a problem from multiple angles to ensure all relevant issues are considered. Gather the appropriate facts and evidence in order to make decisions effectively.

Your training plan:

You will undertake both practical and theoretical training whilst studying for your ACA qualification under an apprenticeship agreement. Once you have completed the course, you will be a qualified accountant. We will fund your training and provide you with paid study leave to attend the courses, so you will be earning while you are learning. You will also receive regular pay reviews.

Requirements Essential qualifications: Degree Qualified (grade Pass) Desirable qualifications: GCSE or equivalent in: Any (grade 4 and upwards), Any (grade C upwards) Let the company know about other relevant qualifications and industry experience you have. They can adjust the apprenticeship to reflect what you already know.
