We have been assigned by one of the UK's more prestigious NHS Trusts to help them recruit a Consultant in Neurology on either a Substantive or an NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months to join their successful Medicine department.

Our client currently provides general hospital services to a population of approximately 500,000 and some tertiary referral specialist services to a considerably larger population of 1.2 Million. Clinical Haematology forms its own Directorate within the Cancer Services Division. The Oncology Centre is based within the Hospital and receives approximately 8000 new referrals each year. The Centre has a custom designed department which opened in April 1993 and dedicated radiotherapy facilities. The Centre serves a population of 1.2 million and covers various areas and provides a comprehensive service for adult solid tumours.

The successful appointee will be asked to undertake various duties within the department, including: Provide a high standard of care to any patient for whom you have clinical responsibility. This includes any patients referred to you and cared for by you personally or by members of your team and, in addition, any patients of consultant colleagues when you are covering annual leave. Participate in clinical and other service activities and developments with the aim of ensuring a high standard of patient care. Work in close co-operation with other medical, professional and managerial colleagues, both within and outside the specialty, to provide high-quality health care to the Trust's patients and to contribute to future thinking about the Trust's strategic direction. Participate fully in the clinical governance agenda of the specialty and care group. Participate actively in departmental audits, sharing co-ordination of audit activities within the department and implementation of change.
