Job Description: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Assistant to join this team
5 days a week, term time only . The successful candidate will work closely with children who have autism and high sensory needs, and who may display challenging behaviors. You will play a vital role in helping them achieve their personal goals. Key Responsibilities: Provide one-on-one and small group support to children with autism and high sensory needs. Create and maintain a structured and predictable learning environment. Employ strategies to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviors. Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure consistent support for the students. Facilitate sensory activities that help children manage their sensory needs. Monitor and record students' progress and behavior, providing feedback to the SENCO and other relevant staff. Support students with personal care tasks if required. Requirements: A Child & Adult Workforce DBS Previous experience working with children with autism and high sensory needs is highly desirable. Understanding of autism spectrum disorders and associated sensory processing issues. Ability to stay calm and patient in challenging situations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A proactive and positive attitude towards helping children achieve their best. Relevant qualifications or training in special educational needs (e.g., CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, or equivalent) is advantageous. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
