Head of Quality & Technical Shepley Spring are the UK’s leading bottled water manufacturer with over 20 years’ experience in production and are proud to remain a family run business to this day. The company operates in three manufacturing facilities in West Yorkshire and owns several high-speed production lines with the capabilities of producing both still and sparkling water, servicing leading retailers such as Morrisons, Lidl, Booker Tesco and Sainsbury through private labels, and produces the brands Ice Valley and White Rock exclusively.

Summary: The QEHS Coordinator in our food and beverage manufacturing business is responsible for ensuring the highest standards in Quality, Environmental, Health, and Safety practices. This role focuses on implementing and managing quality systems, maintaining compliance with food safety regulations, ensuring adherence to environmental standards, and promoting a safe workplace for all employees. The QEHS Coordinator will conduct audits, support continuous improvement initiatives, and work collaboratively across departments to mitigate risks, enhance product quality, and foster a culture of safety and sustainability within the facility.

Key responsibilities:

Quality Assurance Implement, monitor, and enhance Quality Management Systems (QMS) in line with industry standards (HACCP, BRC….) Conduct internal quality audits and inspections to ensure compliance with regulatory and customer requirements Develop, review, and maintain SOPs related to quality control, food safety, and manufacturing processes Collaborate with production teams to address non-conformances and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) Support quality-related training for employees to foster a culture of excellence Monitor and manage the company’s environmental impact, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations Develop initiatives to minimise waste, reduce water and energy usage, and ensure proper disposal of waste materials Participate in environmental risk assessments and sustainability initiatives Prepare required environmental reports for regulatory authorities Health and Safety Promote and enforce workplace safety programs and ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations Conduct risk assessments, safety inspections, and hazard identification exercises, and ensure any identified issues are resolved promptly Lead or participate in incident investigations, analyse root causes, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence Organise and conduct health and safety training programs, including emergency response and accident prevention Regulatory Compliance Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to food safety, environmental standards, and occupational safety Stay updated on regulatory changes and communicate necessary adjustments to processes or practices Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies during inspections and certification processes Support continuous improvement initiatives in QEHS systems and processes Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for operational efficiency and improved product quality Track and analyse QEHS metrics and provide regular performance reports to management Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Environmental Science, Safety Management, or a related field Minimum of 3 years of experience in a QEHS role within the food and beverage manufacturing industry HACCP, BRC, NEBOSH, or other relevant certifications preferred Familiarity with food safety regulations (e.g., FDA, USDA), environmental standards, and occupational health and safety requirements Strong attention to detail and analytical skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to conduct audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations Proficiency in MS Office Suite and quality management software tools Ability to identify issues and recommend effective solutions Work closely with production, quality, and safety teams to ensure coordinated efforts Flexibility to adapt to changing regulatory requirements and operational needs Ability to lead by example and influence others in maintaining high QEHS standards
