Sekisui Diagnostics are looking to appoint a Senior Scientist (Study Leader) to join the R&D department on a full time basis.

As part of a dedicated team, you will initiate, direct and execute pre-clinical scientific research and/or development strategies. You will investigate the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions, products, and problems. You will maintain a broad knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories and may be required to participate in the development of patent applications.

To be successful in this role , you will take the technical lead in projects and provide scientific direction to project teams, assess and present data and conclusions, and specify the preparation of new data where required to meet project objectives. You will also lead scientific communication with CDMO clients and prepare time-critical project proposals. You will work closely to support Business Development with the assessment of new project opportunities for the Enzymes Business, representing Sekisui in discussions with potential new clients and preparing draft R&D project plans for review and approval in association with Business Development, Programme Management, and Head of R&D. You will act as a Subject Matter Expert within the business in at least one Bioscience discipline (e.g. microbiology, biochemistry, analysis) and support the development of new business by liaising with the Marketing function and in preparation of external scientific/technical communications.

The successful candidate will have education and/or experience in some, or all, of the following areas:

PhD in a relevant scientific discipline combined with extensive relevant scientific experience in a (bio)pharmaceutical/biotechnology company (a minimum of 5-8 years related experience).

A very strong base of knowledge in at least one Bioscience discipline (e.g. microbiology, biochemistry, analysis), equivalent to post-doctoral Academic scientists in that discipline.

A meticulous approach to project planning and functional skills with planning tools such as Microsoft Project.

Demonstrated success in technical proficiency, scientific creativity, collaboration with others, and independent thought.

Proficient in application of Quality by Design and Design of Experiments.

Experience of working in cGMP or ISO13485-compliant environment.
