Associate Professor of Environmental Geophysics The Department of Earth Sciences and St Hughs College are recruiting an Associate Professor of Environmental Geophysics to join our thriving academic community. The appointee will have outstanding potential and will bring exciting new perspectives. The role will start from 1 May 2025, or as soon as possible thereafter. This is a joint appointment: the person appointed to the Associate Professorship will also be appointed to a Tutorial Fellowship at St Hugh’s College and will be a trustee and member of its Governing Body. We are looking for geophysicists working in the Environmental Geosciences, including areas of natural hazards, the cryosphere, water resources, soil science, and green-energy resources — but this list is not exhaustive or exclusive. The successful candidate will have a doctorate in the field of Geophysics. The main duties of the post are to carry out research at an international level, to participate in the administration of the department and governance of the college, and to teach, supervise, and examine undergraduate and postgraduate students. Applications are particularly welcome from women and black and minority ethnic candidates, who are under-represented in academic posts in Oxford. Combined University and College salary from £54,395 p.a. plus additional College pensionable benefits. An allowance of £3,078 p.a. would be payable upon award of Full Professor title. The closing date for applications is midday on 02 December 2024. Interviews will be held in the department over two consecutive days on Tuesday 4 and Wednesday 5 February 2025.
