We are working with an organisation that provides mobile communication products that develop and supply radio terminals, accessories, and software applications. They are based in the Cambridge area and are looking to hire a Software Architect to focus on embedded, real-time devices. This is a hybrid role with some blended flexible working opportunities. The team develops software for embedded devices using embedded Linux, Android AOSP, bare metal, and Android Applications. The successful candidate in the role will be collaborating with customer support, product managers, project managers, and developers to understand requirements and help shape the complete system. Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Lead the design of complex software solutions for mobile radio devices by collaborating with cross-functional teams, including software developers, other discipline technical experts, and product managers to understand software requirements and ensure successful delivery in a project context. Create and maintain architectural patterns and blueprints that set the framework within which the software designers and developers can work, ensuring scalability, security, and performance requirements are met. Oversee the technical direction across multiple software projects, guiding the development teams to meet the project's aims whilst maintaining the integrity of the architecture. The role requires an outstanding communicator to effectively gather requirements and collaborate with stakeholders. To be considered as a suitable candidate for the Software Architect role, we are looking for the following qualifications and experience: Degree from a technical area. Experience as a Software Architect or Senior level software engineer wanting to step up into an architectural role using C++, Java, and modern software development frameworks. Software Design and Development experience, ideally from a mobile communications background. Experience with Android devices is preferred.
