We are looking for you if you have experience of rolling stock mechanical systems, to work with an industry respected group of experts who provide technical support in rail projects at all levels of the industry from heritage fleets to new build rolling stock. This includes design, compliance, incident investigation, vehicle refurbishment and life extension. In this role you will be responsible for the delivery of mechanical engineering projects to clients or internal project teams. We are looking for you if you can: Understand client requirements and aspirations to identify and agree scopes of work. Deliver high quality work to agreed timescales and budgets. Ideally, have good knowledge of at least two of the following rolling stock areas, and the desire and ability to develop your knowledge within other areas:
Bogies and suspension. Wheelsets. Bearings and transmissions. Braking systems and performance. Door systems. Couplers and gangways. Corrosion repairs and fabrication. Engines. Train maintenance and fleet management.
Example work activities: The role does not require applicants with experience in these areas. They are provided as examples of what you could be doing with us: The introduction of new rolling stock through design scrutiny in support of the Certification Body. Cost reduction through component condition assessment and maintenance optimization. Investigation of in-service issues / problem solving. Devising practical repair solutions. Improving system reliability through the review of fault data and recommendation for modifications. Undertake Project Manager roles for projects managed by the Mechanical Systems team.
