The role is a mix of consulting and operating, shared over a 4-day week working up to 40 hours per week. While we are a first opinion practice, we pride ourselves in offering full investigations in house, utilising and developing skills and knowledge through the team. Study towards advanced qualifications is encouraged and supported. We have great relationships with local referral practices and have a visiting orthopaedic surgeon for the more advanced procedures. Our out of hours service is provided by Vets Now in Aberdeen and Dundee, but our own in-patients are taken care of in house, by our nursing staff who remain on site 24-7 when required. About us
We have all the usual equipment, including digital dental and standard radiography, cold laser, rigid and flexible endoscopes and a recently upgraded ultrasound machine with cardiac probe. We have an onsite laboratory, with biochemistry, haematology, urinalysis and cytology capabilities, with the intention of adding tabletop AI slide interpretation soon. We have dedicated dog, cat, ICU and isolation wards as well as 2 operating theatres, a dental suite and imaging room. We hold ISFM Cat Friendly Silver award, a Positive Pawprint Partner and are a PDSA Partner Practice as well. Laurencekirk is located on the Angus/Aberdeenshire border, with quick and easy access to the local cities of Aberdeen (30 minutes) and Dundee (40 minutes). We are on the edge of the Cairngorms with hillwalking and other activities on your doorstep. Beaches, both sandy and craggy are only 10 minutes away as well. What are we looking for?
Our ideal candidate would be someone who is keen to grow and develop further, with the ability to operate and consult sole charge, though back up would only be a phone call away. Someone who challenges and is not afraid of being challenged! A full driving licence is essential. Because our people matter
