Health and Safety Manager (Blackburn BB1) Full time, Permanent £45,000 - £50,000 per annum Our client, a leading FMCG manufacturer are currently recruiting for an experienced Health and Safety Manager to join their team at their site in Blackburn (Shadsworth Industrial Estate). We are looking for an individual to take full responsibility and accountability for managing, advising and facilitating the Huhtamaki Blackburn Health, Safety and Environmental function. The role requires full understanding of current & pending H & S and environmental legislation and the ability and interpersonal skills to translate this knowledge into creating a safe and healthy operationally compliant environment. Role responsibilities To act as the Business advisor for safety. Assist managers, supervisors and individuals to meet various responsibilities for Health and Safety under relevant legislation. Keep up to date with changes in current legislation and to bring to the attention of the business any relevant new legislation and proposed changes to be implemented. Ensuring the health, safety and risk management systems are fully implemented across the site and are operated to the same standards as set by the business. Development and maintenance of suitable processes for the investigation of accidents and near miss situations. Implement corrective actions with department heads. Participating in the investigation of accidents and near-misses and recommending remedial action to management where appropriate. Conduct health and safety inspections and prepare reports of all the company’s operations. (Check PPE, Factory walk rounds) Arrange and deliver monthly Health and Safety meetings. Role requirements NEBOSH Experience of a Manufacturing environment (3 years) Working knowledge of current legislation:- Health & Safety at Work Act, COSHH et Some travel to client sites or other sites will be required. Environmental, service and recycling targets impacting on health and safety PC Literate Ability to motivate and engage a team to work as a team. Analysis and decision making – able to analyse data, making effective decisions in a timely way.
