The
MDes Design Futures
programme at the Royal College of Art is seeking an
Associate Lecturer
to deliver the elective unit
Design Innovation: Venture Creation . This part-time, fixed-term position is for 10 weeks, commencing the week of
20 January 2025 , with teaching taking place
in person on Wednesdays
at the RCA’s Battersea campus.
The
Design Innovation: Venture Creation
elective equips postgraduate students with the skills to transform product or service concepts into viable and ethically sound value propositions and business models. The ideal candidate will have expertise in teaching topics related to
entrepreneurship, business model innovation , and working with
industry, public sector, or social enterprises .
Responsibilities
Deliver engaging and high-quality teaching for the
Design Innovation: Venture Creation
elective.
Guide students in translating design concepts into actionable business plans.
Provide mentorship and feedback to help students develop economically and ethically sustainable value propositions.
Collaborate with the programme team to ensure alignment with the overall objectives of the Design Futures programme.
Contribute to fostering a dynamic and inclusive learning environment.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
Demonstrable experience teaching
postgraduate design students
in areas such as entrepreneurship, business model innovation, or venture creation.
Proven ability to work with
industry, public sector organisations , or
social enterprises
to foster innovative outcomes.
A strong understanding of the relationship between design innovation, business, and societal impact.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to collaborative working and student support.
