Job Description Operating across a three lines of defence model, The 1st Line Risk Team extends across the regulated and non-regulated mortgage business activities. We are responsible for providing the 1st Line business areas with appropriate training, support, assistance and advice in order to empower effective risk management. The Team also conducts oversight of the business areas in order to determine the level of risk management maturity and, if applicable, to identify more targeted areas of further support required. This oversight is predominantly focused across operational, conduct and compliance risk types. The Team supports risk reporting through established governance routes. Typical Duties include (but are not limited to): Support the Operations Teams to maximise the utilisation and benefits of the Group ERMF toolkit in order to manage risk effectively, consistently and transparently. Provide risk insight to HODs in order to support/challenge prioritisation and focus on a risk basis. Provide consolidated Business Area report to the centralised 1st Line Risk Report submission to Risk Committees. Build close working relationships with Heads of Department and key personnel to design controls that are effective, scalable and repeatable.
Qualifications You will be familiar with the three lines of defence model and First Line Risks' role in ensuring this model is effectively deployed within the regulated and unregulated business. You will ideally have knowledge of Risk and Control Self Assessments, their importance and role as a key risk artefact. You will be comfortable influencing senior stakeholders to ensure that they've looked at their own processes with a critical eye and an appreciation of their regulatory obligations. With a focus around risk and control, you will feel comfortable providing constructive challenge around existing ways of working and will have a healthy dissatisfaction with a mind-set of 'we've always done it that way'.
