Applicants are invited to apply for the general locum consultant Neurology posts, a specialist interest is desirable. You will join an established team of Consultant Neurologists in helping to deliver a General and Subspecialty Neurology service within the North Midlands and beyond. This is an exciting opportunity to join our existing team who provide general and sub specialist patient care at our Neurosciences Centre of Excellence. The Neurology out-patient and in-patient services are supported by a dedicated Neurology Ambulatory Care Unit (NACU) which provides day-case services and we also offer a video telemetry service, supported by our Neurophysiology Department. Main duties of the job

The successful applicants will be expected to provide expert patient assessment in the diagnosis and management of all neurological conditions in both in-patients and out-patient settings. They will be required to actively engage in and develop Neurology services and to provide clinical leadership to others. A flexible approach will be required to working for our Trust, due to multiple site working. They will work collaboratively with colleagues to provide new ways of working across different professions, organisations i.e. community/primary care. Working for our organisation

Qualifications

Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining entry on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register via one of the following: a. Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) (the proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview) b. Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) c. European Community Rights MRCP (or equivalent) Full GMC Registration MD, PhD Experience

Good writing and presentation skills Comprehensive training appropriate to this post Ability to take full and independent responsibility for the care of patients Ability to offer expert clinical opinion in a range of problems within specialty Willingness to develop an area of special interest to fit in with current establishment and service needs Ability to plan strategically and to exercise sound judgements when faced with conflicting pressures Experience of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching Recognised teaching skills course/ medical education qualification. Exposure to a variety of working environments. Publications in peer-reviewed journals. Management / Teaching
