Full Clean UK Driving Licence and access to your own vehicle Our client, a well-respected charity, is looking for a dedicated and highly organised Independent Domestic Violence Adviser (IDVA) to provide frontline services to victims of domestic abuse. This role involves working within a multi-agency framework to ensure the safety and protection of those at high risk of domestic homicide, empowering victims to make positive choices, and offering tailored support services. Synopsis of duties: Provide a high-quality, proactive service to victims of domestic abuse, focusing on safety and protection. Develop and maintain multi-agency links to ensure safety is central to services. Work within frameworks such as HRDA, MARAC, and SDVC to support high-risk victims. Assess risk and deliver services appropriate to the level of risk, with a premium service for high-risk clients. Advocate for victims with statutory and non-statutory services, providing emotional and practical support. Manage a caseload, ensuring each client receives individualised support, focusing on safety planning and transitioning to independent living. Participate in HRDA meetings on a rota basis. Support clients through the Criminal Justice and MARAC systems, explaining procedures, and providing necessary advocacy. Empower clients to recognise and address the dynamics of domestic abuse in their situations. Develop and promote projects in the community, facilitating support groups and awareness campaigns. Requirements: Proven experience of providing support to vulnerable people, advocating for them, and developing new services. Strong understanding of the needs of domestic abuse victims, child protection issues, and the principles of risk assessment and safety planning. Knowledge of civil and criminal justice remedies, the benefits system, and housing issues affecting families escaping domestic abuse. Ability to build rapport, work constructively with nonviolent parents/guardians, and maintain professional boundaries. Strong crisis management skills, ability to work flexibly and manage a caseload. Commitment to equal opportunities, user-focused services, and personal development. IDVA qualification (CAADA IDVA/Women’s Aid DAPA) would be highly desirable; willingness to undertake relevant study is essential. Flexibility required to attend events in the evenings and weekends as and when required. Full Clean UK Driving Licence and access to your own vehicle. Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service would be advantageous.
