Senior Accountant - 12 month FTC - Hybrid
Responsibilities:
Assist the Director of Development and Assistant Director of Assets with financial planning of the Capital Programme (new build and existing properties) ensuring consistency with the business plan. Monitor and control group budgets via the preparation of monthly management accounts, variance analysis reports, cost projections, and regular liaison with budget holders. Support operational staff, improve reporting, engagement, relationships, and understanding of budget holders. Act as a first point of contact on all finance-related issues for the directorate you support. Ensure that financial ledgers related to Capital Expenditure are up to date and accurate, maintaining financial control accounts and key reconciliations. Meet financial accounting deadlines for timely preparation of monthly management accounts. Budgeting and Budgetary Control. Report to senior management in clear, concise terms, providing timely, accurate financial and management information. Supervise and review the preparation of monthly management accounts for the entire Property directorate budget (including Repairs and Maintenance) in accordance with the agreed timetable. Prepare the annual Property budget (both Capital and Revenue), ensuring all budgets align with the approved budget and business plan. Provide the Treasury Management team with reports to assist with loan covenant compliance reporting and management of cashflow forecast. Assist with the preparation of the year-end statutory accounts and disclosures, liaising with external auditors during the audit. Review key reconciliations against all Capital Schemes and assist Group Assistant Finance Business Partner with processes and procedures. Ensure all capital expenditure can be analysed to property and component level as required by the Housing SORP. Review key information schedules relating to New Homes and Asset Management, ensuring accurate recording on the Fixed Asset Register.
PERSON SPECIFICATION: Fully or part qualified accountant with a clear understanding of finance processes. Relevant management or leadership qualification. Experience in the housing sector. Knowledge of Capital Accounting and associated transactions. Knowledge of Component Accounting. Experience in producing Statutory Accounts Disclosures and dealing with external audit requirements. Methodical, organised, efficient, and effective with attention to detail. Ability to communicate complex financial information to non-Finance colleagues. Thrive under pressure with the ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines. Experience in budget preparation, management accounts, and year-end reports. Experience in financial reconciliation and maintaining internal financial controls. VAT experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to understand and adapt to a wide range of stakeholder needs.
