SEN Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

to join our team and help make a positive difference in the lives of our students. Role Overview

As an

SEN HLTA , you will play a key role in providing individualized support to students with diverse needs, such as Autism, ADHD, Speech and Language Delays, and other complex conditions. You will work closely with teachers and the SENCO to create effective learning strategies, lead group interventions, and ensure tailored support for each student’s academic success. Key Responsibilities

Support Students:

Deliver high-quality support to students with a range of SEN, leading group lessons and individual interventions when the class teacher is absent. Personalized Assistance:

Offer one-on-one and small group support, adjusting your approach to cater to the specific needs of each student. Lesson Planning & Differentiation:

Assist in planning and differentiating lessons to ensure accessibility for all students, regardless of their needs. Monitor Progress:

Track student progress and collaborate with teachers, the SENCO, and parents to ensure that students are achieving their educational goals. Inclusive Environment:

Help foster a positive, inclusive classroom atmosphere where students feel respected, valued, and confident. Behavior Management:

Support with behavior management strategies, maintaining a calm and productive learning environment. IEPs and Interventions:

Work closely with the SENCO and other professionals to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and targeted interventions for students. Safeguarding:

Ensure the safety and well-being of students by following all safeguarding and child protection guidelines. Required Skills and Experience

Experience working with students with SEN, ideally in a specialist school environment. HLTA qualification or equivalent, with a strong understanding of effective support strategies for students with complex needs. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with students, teachers, and parents. A patient, empathetic approach with the ability to manage a range of student needs, including Autism, ADHD, and other learning challenges. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing student needs. Commitment to promoting the safeguarding and welfare of students. Desirable Skills and Experience

Previous experience supporting students with complex learning needs, such as Autism, ADHD, or PMLD. Knowledge of behaviour management techniques and inclusive teaching practices. Relevant qualifications in SEN or child development, such as Level 3 Teaching Assistant or similar certifications. Understanding of the curriculum and differentiation methods for students with SEN.
