At University Hospitals Southampton Foundation Trust (UHS), we have an exciting opportunity for a healthcare professional to join our pharmacy team. This post, the "Deputy Head of Production," will be responsible for the production of aseptic medicines at the new UHS Aseptic unit based at Adanac Park, due to open in April 2025. Working with the Head of Production, they will be responsible for the management and development of the new unit, ensuring it meets the requirements of UHS and the Hampshire and Isle of Wight region, under the scope of an MHRA license. Detailed job description and main responsibilities

As the Deputy Head of Production, you will be responsible for the following: • Working alongside the Head of Production for the governance, delivery, and strategic development of the specialised dispensing services to UHS and to the wider Hampshire and Isle of Wight region. • Leading and contributing to the planning, organising, and coordination of the Adanac Park aseptic Hub production activities and service provision. • Line management of the Aseptic pharmacy teams across all services at Adanac Park, with direct line management responsibility to the Service Managers. • Working with the Head of Production to deliver and facilitate training and education, both in-house and nationally recognised training programmes to all grades of Aseptic staff. What we’re looking for

You will need to be a registered professional with a Master’s level qualification coupled with further postgraduate training or an equivalent level of experience. You will also need significant experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, preferably in aseptic preparation, coupled with a willingness to learn and develop. Previous line management experience in a manufacturing area or pharmacy environment is essential. Qualifications, knowledge and experience

Masters degree in Pharmacy / scientific discipline or equivalent level of experience. Registered Professional Foundation level management training or equivalent experiential learning Post-graduate qualification in Pharmaceutical Manufacturing or equivalent experience Advanced theoretical and practical knowledge in technical areas of pharmacy, including pharmaceutical manufacturing, preparation, procurement and contracting, auditing and unlicensed medicines. Extensive knowledge of isolators and laminar airflow technology. Detailed current knowledge of MHRA Guide to Good Manufacturing Practice, and the British and European pharmacopoeia. Extensive experience in Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) in relation to the aseptic production of medicines. Significant post-qualification experience of managing/leading a team and service. Excellent communication, organisation and mentoring skills, including motivation and encouragement of teams. Evidence of continuing education/professional CPD Skills and competencies
