Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit a full-time substantive Consultant Psychiatrist working with the newly developed Living Well Team. This post is based in Tameside, offering advice to GPs for patients not currently open to secondary care mental health services. This is an exciting time to join the Trust, and there are many opportunities to contribute to the organisation’s development and to look at service redesign models. Tameside has a very strong teaching commitment, and candidates will be expected to contribute to the teaching of medical and nursing staff and 4th medical students. There are close links with ongoing research projects. The Consultants contribute to local service user & carer groups. Main Duties of the Job

To provide high-quality Mental Health Care support to GPs with advice for their patients within the Tameside area. To work with the other Consultants to support the development of the service, and to attend local and divisional service development meetings. Applicants must be on the GMC’s Specialist Register or eligible for inclusion or be within six months of the anticipated award of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Adult Psychiatry at the time of interview for the post. Qualifications

MB BS or equivalent medical qualification. Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management. Additional clinical qualifications. Eligibility

Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practice at the time of appointment. Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months. Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment. Approved under S12 OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment. In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice. Clinical Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Excellent knowledge in specialty. Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty. Makes decisions based on evidence and experience, including the contribution of others. Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA. Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service. Academic Skills & Lifelong Learning

Able to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training. Ability to work in and lead a team. Demonstrate commitment to shared leadership & collaborative working to deliver improvement. Participated in continuous professional development. Participated in research or service evaluation. Able to use and appraise clinical evidence.
